Check out my Slide Show!

What a Week!

Hereditary Sphereocytosis
This means that your blood cells are abnormally shaped and your spleen thinks
they are bad, so it gets rid of them quicker which causes problems with the immune
system, and other organs such as the gall bladder. When your hemoglobin counts are
down you become jaundice.
Kaden had quite the week, it started last Wednesday with
vomitting and diarrhea(Yuck!) I thought he was getting over it, then on Sunday
he turned this crazy yellow color! The whites of his eyes were no longer white, they were
yellow! So Monday I took him in to the Dr. to see what was up and the Dr. sent us over to the hospital for blood work, when we were finished doing that Kaden yelled at the nurses! He said
"I am NEVER coming back here agian!" Anyhow I had to wait until Tuesday afternoon
for the results, the Dr. said that his blood count was down a little and his bilirubin was up a
little, nothing really to worry about he said! Well, I was still worried because by this time he
looked like a flourescent yellow light bulb, and he was still vomitting about twice a day, he
was kind of lazy, not really himself, and saying his tummy hurt. So I called Riley's Hospital in
Indy to talk to the girls' doctor, Dr. Mark Heiny (what a funny name!) I didn't get to
speak with him personally, but I did speak to the phone nurse and she said she would
call Dr. Heiny and let him know this and he would call me back. Well, I was sitting at the BookWorm waiting for the phone call and not ten minutes later the phone nurse calls
back and says she talked to Dr. Heiny and he says don't panic but you will need to pack a
bag, and bring Kaden in as soon as possible! Don't panic yeah right! Needless to say we made it to Indy and by this time Kaden was looking a little less yellow and acting a little more like Kaden! Anyhow, we went straight in to the ER and they took a look at him and asked 1,000
questions! They had to take blood from Kaden so in order to do so they had to wrap him in a sheet! He wouldn't be still! Actually, it's kind of funny thinking back on it! He looked like he was
in a straight jacket!!!!! Anyhow, after his ultra sound, we got a room and stayed over night. He was doing quite well so they said that we could go home soon! Well, there was a little bit of miscommunication on the hospital part, because one nurse told us not to let him eat or drink anything by mouth because he was going to have to a scope put down his throat to look at his gall bladder, and later he was going to have surgery to remove his gall bladder! Mom and I were a little bit shocked and suprised by this information! So I said before anything happens I would like to speak to Dr. Heiny! Well, waiting in a hospital is the worst ever! Mom and I were going crazy waiting for the doctor to show up! Finally, Dr. Heiny cleard everything up, Kaden wouldn't be having any procedures or surgeries done today! They did say however that he must have had
a gall stone and since he seemd fine now he must have passed it, but there are still small stones in his gall bladder, and he will have to have that removed along with a partial splenectomy, which will occur on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 They placed him on a low-fat diet which is going to be kind of difficult for him, although he does love to eat a bunch of fruit! Before we left the hospital Kaden had to have a shot(to prepare his body for surgery) so the nurse came in to do this and remove his iv, and my goodness did he get mad! He called the nurses "poopheads" and was screaming like a madman! Mom is going to post some pictures but by the time she was able to purchase batteries for her camera Kaden wasn't that yellow anymore!!!!!
Anyhow, keep him in your prayers
Love, Shannon

It's time to name the lake house . . .

Ok everyone . . . put your thinking caps on and come up with some suggestions. We need a name for the lake house. Here are some things to keep in mind when entering your suggestions:
It's on Cherokee Lake so maybe something in the Cherokee Language, we want it to be easy to say and to be something meaningful.
Email me your suggestions (sands143@bellsouth.net), ask your friends and family (those that might not "have time" to check this blog) for their suggestions and email them to me. I will compile a poll with all of your ideas and we will all vote on it.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and I can't wait to hear what everyone comes up with.
Love you all so much!
