We may have a trip to Chicago in our future. Carter might be seeing a surgeon in Chicago about his leg. It's Dr. McKinnon. Some of you may have heard of him. He's one of the doctors that traveled to Romania to operate on an extremely large tumor and also on a 200 lb tumor here in the states. Both were NF related which is the genetic disorder that Carter has.
I don't know all the details, but I thought maybe we could crash in Knox, Indiana????? I Googled it and it's only about 2 hours away.
Also, I was thinking I would have to make it to some of the Chicago museums and then thought about the time we went to Chicago with Aunt Nancy and Uncle Bob and I think Jerry, Jesse, and Marjorie were with us. I remember a red truck that had a topper on the back and some of us kids sat back there for the trip. Anybody else remember this or did I dream it???? I remember really loving the museum we went to. I'd like to know the name of it and maybe take Shaye if we get to come.

Hi Shawna, I remember that trip well~and also that truck! The kids had so much fun in the back of that truck, they spent alot of time back there, we took that truck when we went camping in the Smokey Mountains. Chicago has some really nice museums~I think it was the museum of science & industry that we went to on that visit. Didn't we go to the sears tower too, well I'm not sure about that but I do remember that trip~you were all so little then!! And YES you can stay in Knox~I'm sure Shannon would love that! I'll have to go though my pictures~I know there is one of everyone in front of the museum on the steps or in the parking lot where we ate our lunch!! I don't think you were much older than Shaye is now! Love Me

Wow, a trip to Chicago! Of course you would have to stay in Knox! We would LOVE it! Let us know when you get the details! We could go to the museums with you even!!!!
Oh my gosh I remember that truck! lol we had an old blue van seat or something back there too didn't we mom?
There are a lot of museums, Science and Industry, Field Museum, Museum of Natural History, Children's Museum...and maybe some others! Maybe somehow we could ride the train in to Chicago and spend the day!

He has a mass in his bottom and upper thigh of his left leg. The surgeon here diagnosed it as a vascular malformation but many people with Carter's disorder are misdiagnosed and it turns out to be an invasive tumor. We are sending his scan, report and pictures to Chicago to get a second opinion. A lot of times this surgeon will do surgery on tumors that other dr's won't.
Shawna~this has nothing to do with Chicago, but Todd had a wonderful idea.....he said you did such a good job getting this blog going, you should build our website for the BookWorm~not that your not busy enough already!!!!!
